Double Door Magnetic Lock 2 × 280 kg (600 lb) with Status: overview
EL-170 secures a pair of doors with a single 500 × 47 × 26 mm lock body containing two 280 kg (600 lb) magnets, one for each leaf. Each leaf gets its own 180 × 38 × 11 mm armature plate, so both doors are held in straight pull. It is sometimes listed as a 1,200 lb double maglock, but each leaf is held at 600 lb. A status signal output with normally-open and normally-closed contacts reports back to the controller or alarm panel.
The housing is high-strength aluminum alloy fastened with hex-socket (Allen) screws, which resist casual tampering with ordinary screwdrivers. The lock runs from 12 V DC or 24 V DC and draws 480 mA per magnet at 12 V (960 mA total) or 240 mA per magnet at 24 V (480 mA total). Operation is fail-safe, so both leaves release when power is cut, and there is no built-in delay.
It is listed for wooden, glass, metal and fire double doors in lobbies, corridors and stairwells. For the same lock without the signal output, see EL-180.
Integration notes
Size the power supply for both magnets: close to 1 A at 12 V before readers and the controller are added, then allow 25–50% headroom. Wire the NO or NC status contact to the controller's door or auxiliary input to match how that input is configured. The lock weighs 4 kg, so fix the body into solid header material. On frameless glass leaves, carry each armature on an EL-150 U bracket.

EL-170 FAQ
What is the difference between EL-170 and EL-180?
They share the same 500 mm body, two 280 kg magnets and current draw. EL-170 adds a status signal output with NO and NC contacts; EL-180 has no signal output.
How much current does it need?
480 mA per magnet at 12 V DC, 960 mA for both; at 24 V DC it is 240 mA per magnet, 480 mA total. Add the other door devices and 25–50% headroom, for example a 12 V 3 A (PW-120) or 5 A (PW-110) supply.
Can it be used on double glass doors?
Glass doors are listed. On frameless glass leaves, fix each 180 × 38 mm armature with an EL-150 U bracket and mount the lock body on the header.
Is it fail-safe, and does it have a delay?
It is fail-safe: both magnets release when power is removed, which suits escape routes and fire-alarm release. There is no built-in delay, so set relock timing in the controller.
