Metal Wiegand 26/34 Card Reader, 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz: overview

The CR-120 is a card-only access reader in a 120 × 80 × 22.67 mm metal housing, meant for doors, gates and lift lobbies where an existing controller makes the access decisions. It sends card numbers over Wiegand and comes in four credential tiers, from basic 125 kHz EM reading up to 13.56 MHz versions that pull protected sector data and FeliCa numbers.

Pick the tier by the cards already in circulation. CR-120-E reads EM4100, EM4102 and EM4200-compatible cards and fobs. CR-120-M returns the UID of MIFARE Classic, DESFire, Plus, Ultralight, NTAG2xx and ISO/IEC 14443 CPU cards. CR-120-MS adds reading of protected MIFARE Classic 1K/4K sectors and CPU card files, ISO/IEC 15693 UIDs and the iCLASS card serial number (CSN) only, together with a Wiegand 66 option. CR-120-MS-FC also reads FeliCa UIDs.

Settings are held in the reader rather than on DIP switches. Swiping a configuration card changes the Wiegand length, read mode, card key and number format, so one stocked part can be adapted per site. A standalone card-issuing utility is available, and your third-party access software needs no changes. The reader answers in under 120 ms, copes well with metal surroundings, and has ESD and miswiring protection.

Integration notes

Power it from 12 V DC (±5%) and allow up to 200 mA. Wires: red +12 V, black GND, white D1, green D0, purple buzzer control, gray LED control. Tie the yellow lead to GND to lock the output at Wiegand 26. No ingress rating is published, so treat it as an indoor or sheltered-entrance reader.

Where the CR-120 is used

  • Office and apartment doors feeding an existing Wiegand controller
  • Lift lobbies passing MIFARE card UIDs to an elevator control board
  • Swapping worn EM readers for -E units without re-enrolling the card base
  • Sites whose staff already carry FeliCa cards, using -MS-FC
Elevators

Elevator Access Control Readers

Elevator card readers for car panels and lift lobbies: anti-clone encrypted cards, QR codes for visitors, Wiegand or RS485 output to the floor controller.

CR-120 FAQ

Which version do I need for MIFARE Classic cards?

Use -M if your controller enrolls the card UID. Choose -MS if the reader should read a protected sector with your key, which helps against simple UID cloning.

How do I switch between Wiegand 26 and 34?

Select the format with the configuration card. Grounding the yellow lead fixes the output at Wiegand 26.

Can it read HID iCLASS credentials?

The -MS and -MS-FC versions read the iCLASS card serial number (CSN) only. They do not decode the secure credential, so enroll iCLASS cards by CSN.

Is the CR-120 waterproof?

No ingress rating is published for this housing. Install it indoors or under cover, and choose an IP-rated reader for fully exposed doors.

Is there a keypad version?

Yes. The CR-130 uses the same 120 × 80 mm metal format and adds a physical keypad and a doorbell button.
