Tamper-Evident On-Metal UHF RFID Label, 60 × 25 mm: overview

OM-120 is a frangible on-metal UHF RFID label for assets where the tag must never migrate from one item to another. The label is built to break apart when someone tries to peel it off, so a removed tag shows obvious damage and cannot be reapplied intact. Typical uses are ownership marking on metal equipment, calibrated instruments, serialized IT hardware and controlled items.

It measures 60 × 25 × 1 mm, carries an Impinj Monza R6 chip and is specified for the 902–928 MHz band. Rated range is 1 m on a metal surface with a 4 W fixed reader, so plan on close-range reading: a handheld sweep during audits or a short-range antenna at an inspection bench, not a dock-door portal. No handheld figure is published.

Like the rest of our flexible label range, the face can be printed and the chip encoded, so asset numbers, barcodes and the EPC go on together. The thin build follows gently curved surfaces, and the label can also be used on containers that hold liquid.

Integration notes

A frangible label gives you one attempt, so apply it to clean, dry metal in its final position. The datasheet does not state whether removal disables the chip; if your process relies on a torn tag going silent, verify that on samples. For longer range without the tamper feature, see OM-110 (6 m on metal) or OM-130 (3.5 m).

OM-120 FAQ

What happens if someone peels the label off?

The label is frangible, so it tears or breaks up during removal and cannot be moved intact to another asset. The datasheet does not say whether the chip stops responding afterwards, so verify that on samples if your process depends on it.

What read range should I plan for?

The datasheet quotes 1 m with a 4 W fixed reader and the label on metal. Plan for close-range reading with a handheld or a short-range antenna; no handheld figure is published.

Which frequency band does it support?

It is specified for 902–928 MHz only. If your system runs at 865–868 MHz, test samples with your reader before ordering volume.

Can you supply the labels pre-printed and pre-encoded?

The face is printable and the chip writable, so asset numbers, barcodes and EPC data can be applied before dispatch. Send us your numbering scheme and quantity for a quote.
