Longest-reading PCB tag in our range: 10 m on metal with a 4 W fixed reader and 6 m with a handheld, in a 90 × 20 × 3.5 mm FR4 body. NXP UCODE 8.
OM-190 is a long, thin FR4 circuit-board tag for metal assets that need distance from a low-profile tag: machinery, steel racking, metal doors and frames, tool cabinets and returnable metal equipment. The 90 × 20 × 3.5 mm board stays flat against the surface and has a hole at each end for fixing.
The datasheet quotes 10 m on a metal surface with a 4 W fixed reader and 6 m with an Impinj R2000-based handheld. That handheld figure is the highest in our whole on-metal line, so OM-190 is the one to pick when audits are done on foot and staff cannot get close to every asset. The chip is an NXP UCODE 8, and the tag is listed for 902–928 MHz and 866–868 MHz; order OM-190-US or OM-190-EU to match your reader.
Compared with the ABS tags, OM-190 is far thinner at 3.5 mm, which helps on doors, panels and rails where a raised housing could be knocked. If space is tight, OM-180 (52 × 13 mm) quotes 8 m on metal.
Mount the board flat on the metal and confirm range with your own reader power and antenna. Hole size and adhesive options are not on the datasheet, so check your fixing method on samples. The EPC can be encoded on site with any Gen2 reader-writer.

Plan RFID for warehouse management: fixed readers and circular antennas at dock doors, conveyor tunnels, handheld cycle counts and on-metal asset tags.
Build an RFID asset tracking system: on-metal, ceramic and tie-on tags matched to each asset, handheld audits, smart cabinets and IP67 HF heads for tooling.
6 m with an Impinj R2000-based handheld, and 10 m with a 4 W fixed reader with the tag on metal, per the datasheet.
Choose OM-190-US for 902–928 MHz systems or OM-190-EU for 866–868 MHz systems. We confirm the band with you before dispatch.
OM-190 is only 3.5 mm thick versus 7–12 mm for our ABS tags. OM-170 (ABS) quotes more fixed-reader range at 13 m, but OM-190 has the higher handheld figure.
Yes. The NXP UCODE 8 chip is EPC Gen2, so any Gen2 reader-writer can program your numbering.
Compare UHF RFID reader bands by country, including US, EU, UK, China, India and Japan. Understand ERP, EIRP, channel conditions and radio approvals.
Wire a UHF reader's D0, D1 and ground to your controller, match 26/34-bit Wiegand, size 12 V power and trigger the barrier by relay. Diagrams included.
Yes, RFID works on metal with tags built for it. See why metal detunes standard tags, compare ABS, PCB, ceramic and label tags, and test read range properly.
