Miniature 2 dBi ceramic patch UHF antenna on a 50 × 50 mm board with 3 m or 5 m SMA lead, for short, contained read zones inside cabinets, slots and counters.
The AN-140 is a 50 × 50 mm ceramic patch antenna for UHF RFID designs where space is the main constraint: individual cabinet cells, product slots in self-service fridges, checkout pads and compact enclosures. With 2 dBi gain it creates a short, contained read zone rather than a long-range field, which helps when neighboring compartments must not read each other's tags.
The small size comes from a high-permittivity ceramic (dielectric constant 37). The trade-off is bandwidth: the –10 dB bandwidth is 4 MHz minimum, far narrower than a PCB or panel antenna, so each unit is tuned to a center frequency. The ceramic's temperature coefficient is 20 ppm/°C maximum, keeping that tuning stable as the enclosure warms or cools.
The patch sits on a PCB ground plane with corner mounting holes. It has no cover and is not waterproof, so mount it inside a dry housing.
Each antenna ships with a coaxial lead terminated in an SMA plug: 3 m on AN-140-3 and 5 m on AN-140-5. Impedance is 50 Ω with VSWR of 1.5 maximum at the center frequency, so it connects directly to multi-port UHF readers and reader modules. Because the passband is narrow, give us your reader's region and channel plan (for example 865–868 MHz or 902–928 MHz) on the RFQ and we confirm the tuned center frequency before dispatch. Please also confirm polarization and board thickness against a sample before finalizing an enclosure: the datasheet lists RHCP in its electrical table but linear in its ordering table, and gives 5.5 mm and 8.5 mm thickness in different sections.

Plan RFID for warehouse management: fixed readers and circular antennas at dock doors, conveyor tunnels, handheld cycle counts and on-metal asset tags.
Build an RFID asset tracking system: on-metal, ceramic and tie-on tags matched to each asset, handheld audits, smart cabinets and IP67 HF heads for tooling.
The electrical specification lists right-hand circular polarization (RHCP), while the ordering sheet lists linear. We confirm the polarization of the batch you order and can send a sample for testing before you commit.
Its –10 dB bandwidth is 4 MHz minimum, much narrower than a PCB or panel antenna, so the antenna is tuned to one center frequency. Tell us your reader's operating band and channels, for example 865–868 MHz or 902–928 MHz, and we confirm a matching tuning.
No read range is specified, because it depends heavily on reader power, tag type and mounting. With 2 dBi gain the AN-140 is intended for short, contained zones; a sample lets you measure it with your own tags.
Any UHF reader or reader module with a 50 Ω antenna port. The lead ends in an SMA plug, so readers with other port types need an adapter cable.
